Super opening!

Vishnuvardhan's "Pattiyyal", based on the life and times of two hired killers on the mean streets of Chennai, has taken this year's best opening so far. What has surprised the trade is that the film, which was expected to open big only in the cities, has taken an amazing opening in the B and C stations too. The masses and the classes seem to have enjoyed the performance of Selva, Koshy, Sandhya and Saro, lead players in the film, as also the riveting background score and peppy music by Yuvan. Says Tirupur Subramaniam, Coimbatore's leading distributor: "The film is a safe bet. It will recover its cost and become profitable in the first week itself. The trade is rejoicing as a film with lesser known actors has managed to get such an opening."
