Destination India

All the big movie studios in Hollywood are making a beeline for India and launching movie channels. At the last count, there were five channels including HBO, STAR Movies, AXN, Hallmark and Zee Studios, all of them showingHollywood films. Now the latest is Sony Entertainment Television's PIX, which has started its telecast from April 1. PIX has a library of close to 100 movies from Hollywood such as Jeff Bridges classic "American Heart", "Born Free," "Butterflies are Free," "Cactus Flower," and "Blind Fury." In the new configuration for the Southeast market, PIX will source movies from the Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) library, which includes Columbia releases too. PIX will also have access to MGM library, which had been conquered by Sony Corp. This comes as major blow to HBO as it has have lost the Sony/Columbia library to PIX. Anyway, the competition between Hollywood movie channels is going to provide the Indian viewers some great entertainment.
