Honouring Arjunan
M. K. Arjunan
A four-day programme `Sadaram Sangeetam' in honour of noted music director and the `Master of Melodies' M. K. Arjunan will be held at the Nehru Memorial Town Hall, Mattancherry, and Parade Ground, Fort Kochi, on April 3, 4, 5 and 8. The event is being organised by the Institute of Socio-Culturally Relevant Art (Iscra).
Nightingale of the South, P. Susheela, will inaugurate the event at the Town Hall, on April 3 at 9.30 a.m. This will be followed by a film music competition. On April 5, lyricist Girish Puthencheri will formally inaugurate a get together of artistes from the field of cinema and drama. A one-hour ghazal programme by Jithesh, the disciple of Anoop Jalota, will be held at 4 p.m. The final round of the music competition and a ganamela incorporating drama songs, by Kalara Gopan and others, will follow.
At the glittering public function to be held at the Parade Ground on April 8, Arjunan Master will be felicitated. Veteran music director B. A. Chidambaranath will be the chief guest. A music programme, stringing together songs composed by Arjunan Master, conducted by music director Rajamani, in which popular singers like G. Venugopal, Manjari, Sudeep Kumar, Rakesh Brahmanandan will provide the grand finale.
