The Inter Hotel Cricket Cup 2006 found hotel employees donning pads with keenness

GOT IT! The winning team poses with the trophy
If you thought the hotel industry was only about hospitality, a friendly cricket match here proved that's it's not `all work and no play' in the service sector.
The occasion was the 9th Inter Hotel Cricket Cup 2006 organised by Hotels & Restaurants Association of Andhra Pradesh (HRAAP). This annual event is aimed at enhancing the camaraderie between staff of the various hotels in the twin cities.
So amidst cheerleading and enthusiasm the competition kick started on March 20 at Gymkhana Ground.
Teams from 14 hotels marched on to the pitch to battle it out for the cup. ITC Hotel Kakatiya Sheraton and Towers , Fortune Katriya by ITC, Taj Belson, Taj Tristar, The Manohar, Hotel Viceroy, Taj Krishna, Taj Banjara, Taj Residency and other teams braced the early summer sun during the 11-day event. And taking home the trophy was the Taj Banjara team that defeated Taj Krishna in the finals, with a five-wicket win.
"This yearly event has been very successful in bringing in a healthy competition and a sense of brotherhood among the various hotels and their employees. The event also brings in a relief from routine work and gives an opportunity for the employees to display their other skills in other activities," observes Sanjay Sood, general manager, Taj Banjara who headed the organising team this year.
