Breaking the jinx
Actors, directors and technicians, who have been successful on the small screen, have been unable to make an impression on the big screen.
However, M. Thirumurugan, director of the popular serial, "Metti Oli" (Sun TV), has taken the plunge and is now directing a film, "Emtton Mahan", a story of a father and his son.
The film stars Nasser and Bharath in the lead. Says Thirumurugan: "I believe human emotions if presented well can work in any medium. Today, in Tamil cinema, story is of prime importance than the stars and I am sure that "Emtton Mahan" will be a hit."
Thirumurugan has roped in his entire "Metti Oli" team scriptwriter Bhaskarsakthi, cameraman Sevilo Raja, art director K. Kathir and editor M. Jayakumar for the film. But can Thirumurugan break the hoodoo surrounding television directors in cinema?
