Unzipping the ensemble

Here's what the models chatted about backstage at the FTV Karma show

GALS AND GUYS Dressed to the hilt, Shahwar Ali and Tarun Aroral (below)

The models, some of whom were in Kerala for the first time, were thrilled to see the beauty of the city, the backwaters, from a strategic place like the venue, Hotel Taj Malabar. Tamara would have liked to stay on, but her tickets were booked, she lamented. Shonali Rosario, Tejaswini, ... ... ... .

Tarun Arora

On Kochi-" I got to see the city this time, on my second visit. I must say the roads are very clean. I plan my next holiday in Kochi."

On Hari's Karma line- "I really appreciate Hari's collection. The story line was very good. There is great promise in his work. He is more into exports but he can be in Mumbai and Delhi any day.

On wardrobe malfunction- " This is very common in industry. When designers get creative they like to try out all those things. I can't blame the designers too. Something small can trigger it as it happened this time at LFW. Yes, it nearly happened to me once. I was wearing a dhoti and the pins securing it came off. I realised it in good time and held the dhoti for the rest of the catwalk."

Shahwar Ali

On Kochi-" this is my third visit. I was there last time to judge a beauty pageant. It's a fantastic place to chill out. The backwaters are great."

On Hari's collection- " He is very talented. I was wearing embroidered shirts, different from the kinds I have worn before."

On wardrobe malfunction-" I have been there backstage and worked abroad too. This kind of thing happens all the time. This was pure accident. Nobody wants that kind of publicity. I have fallen on the ramp many times. This can happen if the shoes you are wearing are not the right fit or the ramp is slippery. At LFW, the outfit (in question) was so beautiful."

And if you are wondering how Kochi-based couturier Hari Anand and New York based illustrator, Patti Stren's Karma couture was stitched together, then here is how.

In the city with her husband for a year and a half, Stren was suitably impressed by the works of Hari Anand.

"In our collaboration you will see a free spirit. You will also see passionate, clean lines. Hari is passionate about dressing. He pays great attention to details. I liked the way he wanted to communicate. So I did the line Karma couture with him." And Karma for Stren is positive action. "It comes back to you. You know there is no real karmic soul mate. My husband and me met through an advertisement.

On her Kochi sojourn, Patti says, "I fell in love with Kochi the moment I stepped off the plane. I like to work for charity. My future couture line will be on Tee shirts that say: Stop-selling gutkas to children."
