All for name
They say what's in the name, but when you share the name of your film with a Karan Johar film, it no longer remains just a name. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, an upcoming filmmaker recently held a press conference claiming his film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna was launched before Karan's film by the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerjee. He says he asked Karan to change the title of his film but he has refused. In the past such cases have been mutually solved but with Chowdhury going to the media, a non-issue has taken the shape of a controversy. The title of both the movies seem to be inspired by Kishore Kumar's popular number Chalte Chalte"
Chowdhury claims he had registered the film on May 13, 2005 under the Trademark Department of India, a body that is approved by the Indian court of law. "Karan Johar has registered the film only under the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) and not under the Trademark Department of India. The powers for the registration of films have not been vested onto IMPPA," says Biswaroop with disgust.
