She did not let the `Mrs.' tag come in her way to winning beauty pageants. After being crowned the Gladrags Mrs. India, 2005 title, 24-year-old Shilpa Reddy is now preparing to participate in the Mrs. Globe title to be held in Los Angeles in July.

Marriage is no block

In Kochi to walk the ramp for Hari Anand - Patti Stren's `Karma couture,' for FTV, the Hyderabad girl said, "Marriage was never a stumbling block in my scheme of things and nor will motherhood be." Though she has no definite plans about the latter she is sure that whenever the stork visits her she will happily enjoy it and get back to work.

"Planning a family is not what will stop me from doing anything. Motherhood will not be in the way of progress. Look at the Hollywood stars. Look at Malaika Arora, Aditi Gowtrikar. They have kids and they bounced back into the business."

And marriage has been a three-year honeymoon for Shilpa she gushes , "I met my husband through family. He is very forward thinking and not tradition bound. Though marriage is an added responsibility it has made me complete. I am more grounded. It teaches you about commitment and about balancing your family and profession."

Coming from a traditional family into the world of glamour, of modelling and beauty pageants was not exactly a cakewalk for her. "There was disapproval from my parents. They were unsure about this line. But I have got tremendous support from my in-laws."

Shilpa Reddy is married to actor Kirti Reddy's brother, Preetam Reddy. Being a Kingfisher calendar girl has been Shilpa's most recent modelling assignment.

"You know how swimwear is in people's mind. During the shoot the people in Mumbai too did not believe that I was married. But I guess I am lucky that my family encourages me in all that I do," says the leggy 5ft 7 lissom model , who works out six days a week.

Fitness she believes has given her clarity of thought and that she now connects spiritually with things. And so Shilpa sets eyes on her next goal as she takes on the globe for Mrs. Globe title.
