Crackdown on sleaze

Finally, the Government has taken action against some channels for showing raunchy remixes. It was bound to happen as channels were trying to outdo each other in showing explicit remixes. Seven music channels, including MTV and Channel V, were issued show cause notices by the I & B Ministry. The Ministry has asked these channels to run an apology scroll for three days. Meanwhile, other channels, including some prominent news channels, have been warned not to telecast surrogate ads on 13 brands of liquor and tobacco, which means some special cricket programmes will go for a six. The I & B Ministry is framing legislation to streamline the content on television.
