Spring's clean

What's new from designer Tarun Tahiliani?

That "Spring-Summer" in fashion is about clean lines, cool colours and comfortable fabrics is clear in ace designer Tarun Tahiliani's latest collection unveiled in the city.

In keeping with the season, the look is fresh and light. Gossamer-like fabrics and a pleasing palette complement Tarun's chic silhouettes. The inspiration this time ranges from Turkish mosaics to tropical flora and fauna. So there are a lot of sunny yellows, deep turquoise, pale salmons and moss.

Prints being big this season, Tarun creates drama with them. From fresh florals and abstract mosaic patterns to animal prints superimposed on lace designs, there's something new in the collection of kurtas, tops, salwar suits and saris with experimental cholis. The range of stoles is different in that they are square shaped and come with chunky embellishments that give them a bejewelled look.

The fabrics include lace in stretch and silk, sheer chiffon, lightweight georgette, satin and fine cotton. He also uses stretch cotton blended jersey that fits so fabulously.

Tarun's clothes are on display at Evoluzione, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam.
