My kind of place -- PRASANTH

Travel lessons

Thanks to my father, I have learnt to explore and appreciate different aspects of the places I visit. I remember him taking us on a holiday every year in April, within India and outside. The best part was we would stay in one particular city or town for a week or two to discover it completely. One such memorable trip was to Goa. We went around this land of beaches for seven days, eating at roadside dhabas and five-star hotels. At the end of it, we realised there is more to Goa than just sunny beaches. For instance, there are some lovely temples there.

Natural Paradise

I love backpacking and have travelled extensively across the south coast of Australia, popularly known as the Gold Coast. Heights (the Alps, Rohtang Pass), the sea (Fiji Islands and Granada) and visiting monuments (historical structures in Europe and down South) excite me. During the 30-day shoot for the film "Jambhavan," I discovered the cultural past of Tenkasi (Tirunelveli district), which has hundreds of ancient temples. Everyday, I would make it a point to visit one of them. I consider myself one of the most fortunate of travellers. Imagine being able to see the Seven Wonders of the World! While shooting for the song in "Jeans," I had a great time standing next to the Sphinx and the Pyramids, and on the Great Wall of China.

Unforgettable sight

The Leaning Tower of Pisa on a full moon night. It's breathtaking to watch the beautifully lit tower and the cathedral, a sky full of stars and the river flowing quietly.

Travel tip

India is an exotic travel destination with its rain forests, the sea, mountains, valleys, historical monuments and more. And if you are planning a trip down South, think beyond Kerala. The coastal stretch from Mangalore to Goa could make for a fabulous holiday.
