Ever wanted to wear a polka dot sari that was a rage in the '80s and has come back with a bang? Found the designer sari that fashion glossy recently carried on its cover page too tempting? The 1,400 sq.ft store in Hatworks Boulevard on Cunningham Road has all this and more. Designed in a Victorian style, the boutique has saris and dress material. You can look at yourself admiringly in those long mirrors and choose the designer sari that you fancy this season.
Exotic touch
There are plenty of chiffons, georgettes and crepes. The saris come with sequins Swarovski crystals and prices can climb to Rs. 60,000! And then there are the calligraphy saris. These come with wordings written across the entire six yards. They are stark, in with a profusion of black and white print, and are priced at Rs. 20,000.
Well, going by the wallet factor and the necklines, surely these clothes are for the rich and the famous. "Most of my clients are the Page Three people. In fact, wives of film stars come and shop here," says Kavitha Shah, who runs the store. "I also have customers coming and asking for designer saris they've seen in ads or saris draped by Aishwarya Rai.
Wide range
Typical of Satya Paul's line, one can get to see a wide range of saris in bright prints and colours. Satya Paul, born in Leigha, Muzaffargarh in Pakistan, came to India during the Partition. He is also the founder of Heritage and L'affaire, two stores that have been at the forefront of fashion retailing since the early Seventies. And ever since, his designs are in demand by the rich and the famous. His works also involve various styles of weaving from all over the country.

At this boutique you can see saris that are inspired by Raja Ravi Verma's oils, a limited edition of silk scarves based on the works of artist S.H. Raza, and saris based on the Japanese Haiku verses to name a few.
"His saris are designed in such a way that they are really easy to drape on. And are best suited for summers," beams Kavitha, who is having a sale of some of the collections of Satya Paul saris till April 20.
That's not all. Jassi from the Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin fame has worked her charm and there's a Satya Paul range named after the serial! Along with these there are also cotton salwars and shirts for women that start at Rs. 2,995.
