Dad, come and maul me!

Actor Vishnu talks about idolising his father and more

HIS FATHER'S SON Vishnu prefers the slow and study approach to success

He's larger than you might expect but with those dimpled cheeks, and a little resemblance to his actor dad, Vishnu is an unusually articulate interviewee. His thoughts are sharp and carefully considered. He dismisses the idea of his career as a glamorous profession. "There's nothing romantic about it. It's full of discipline. I'm always aware of how tough a place it is. Also, luck plays a major part in our lives.

My father once told me, `Find a job you love and you won't work a single day in your life,'" and ever since, Vishnu never doubted that this is the right job for him.

Fame and recognition, though distant, he seems to tread his path with enthusiasm and dedication. His passion for his work can be seen in his attitude. Just two films old, it's not too difficult to believe that he could be a potential actor in the making. He has Babloo and Astram on hand and you can already see a trend in the kind of films he has opted for. That Babloo has been stopped temporarily is a different matter altogether. He says, "The reason for the delay is because I think it is better to take time and make a decent film, rather than make a quick half-a-dozen bad ones. Babloo hasn't been shelved. I also think it would be better to talk about acting in Astram after watching rather than me blowing my own trumpet!"

Funny and charming, Vishnu knows how to effortlessly work the room. Adept at multi-tasking, the actor is into other business ventures too. Jack of all, master of none? Well, not really. He has his fingers in too many pies all right, but he is successfully doing a balancing act. He says, "I'm also am a part of the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions which is run by my father. And of course, I'm thinking about modelling for my mom's Boutique Tanya, (She has been threatening to throw me out of the house if I don't help her out) but the problem is, mom's shop has only clothes for women!"

Assign him the task of describing himself and he says, "I am totally dumb, idotic, crazy, stupid, full of crap. I get heart-broken every other day rather by the hour! " The actor doesn't want to reveal his goal in life and says he's too young to discuss philosophy. He adores his father and recommends reading What's My Motivation.

"I've learnt a lot about an actor's life from it and amazingly, there is lot that overlaps with the content of the profile of a very successful man...my dad," he says. For now, all Vishnu wants to do at the moment is act in a film where he wants to play the bad guy and get mauled by his dad in the climax!
