Honing thought

Edward Bono's Six Thinking Hats course is being held in the city next week

With the rapid expansion of the corporate sector in Bangalore, it was only a matter of time before workshops aimed at shaping corporate thinking also made their way here. The latest in that line of workshops is Edward De Bono's Creativity Tools Workshop — Six Thinking Hats.

The workshop, which takes place on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., includes a mix of teaching and practical exercises that aim at developing practically applicable skills that participants can take back to their workplaces. Some of the issues that will be explored include: the nature of thinking, why we need to change our thinking behaviour, why argument is inadequate, introducing the Six Thinking Hats, why very little new thinking is accomplished at meetings, tools and techniques focusing on each hat, occasional use of Six hats, frameworks for structuring meetings and focusing thinking, how to turn disagreements into positive contributions, techniques for opportunity thinking, programming meetings for a successful outcome and creating the action plan. This method is said to be growing in popularity with corporations such as Du Pont, IBM, NASA Prudential Texas Instruments, NTT, Statoil, Shell and JP Morgan.

The workshop will be conducted by Sunil Gupta and has a maximum capacity of 25 participants. For details, contact Genesis Events India on 011-26221828 or 09811630393. You may also log on to www.genesiseventsindia.com
