FINALLY, A SETTLEMENT

The deadlock between the TFPC and the satellite channels seems to have been resolved with Jaya TV getting the rights to air clips and songs from new films.

As per the agreement between the TFPC and Jaya TV, it will be a revenue sharing deal with some conditions such as no ratings or countdown programmes and no interviews with stars and technicians.

The TFPC is also negotiating with Sun TV network, which has been offered the same terms.

Meanwhile, on Tamil New Year Day, none of the channels had any exclusives with stars other than repeats of earlier programmes and some interviews with Telugu and Malayalam actors.

However, there was stiff competition among the channels to show the latest movies such as "Kathal" (Sun TV), "Kanda Naal Muthal" (Jaya TV) and "ABCD" (Raj TV), which kept the viewers glued to their sets.
