NO GREY AREAS Ambara's show celebrates the mystique and magic of black and white
Ambara, the style store, is celebrating the mystique of black and white in a special show till April 22.
The highlights of the show include Dravidam by Jaya Mani, Utsav by Shashiv Chandran, Omo by Arti Shantakumar and Rasya designed by Patrick Wilson.
Jaya Mani's Dravidam presents a show of by contemporary artists J.M.S. Mani and Vijay Nagvekar who explore their artistic identities through the twin-colour palette. Utsav features the two ranges of sari visualiser Shashiv Chandran in white and in black-and-white. Utsav has been resuscitating the Venkatagiri pure zari sari weaving tradition, which is at risk because of escalation of zari prices and labour costs. Apart from saris, Utsav's range includes intriguing stoles and dupattas.
Omo by Arti Shantakumar plays black and white against each other to create a mood of fun and games. With pants, tops and swishy tie-on wear, the mood from Omo is casual, sassy and smart. Rasya showcases a range of exquisitely crafted cushion covers as home accessories and evening handbags for that outing of sin and fun.
Ambara's show also includes a range of silver and semi-precious stone jewellery by Chandi, which are custom-strung in hand-knotted threads. Ambara is at 119, Annaswamy Mudaliar Road, beside FotoFlash, Ulsoor. Call 25572829 or 25575196 for details.
