MY KIND OF PLACE

Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

Scintillating Switzerland

Be it for a break or for composing bandishen, nothing could be more ideal and inspiring than Switzerland's snow capped mountains, lush valleys, alpine landscapes and meadows. I have visited this amazing landlocked country several times but every time I feel as excited as a first-time visitor. There is so much to see and experience.

A special feeling

I have not only travelled the length and breadth of this country, enjoying the awe-inspiring scenery but also performed at several places including those bordering Germany, Italy and France. In fact, the German, French and Italian influences give a distinct touch to the Swiss culture. The cities are not just spectacular but have a historic value too. It's a wonderful feeling to play the mohanveena at places such as Luzern, Lausane, Locarno, Basel, Winterthur, Thun and Zurich. They appear as perfect as picture postcards.

Food

Being a vegetarian, I survive on pizzas when I am in Switzerland. But I hardly mind as the visual treat is so fulfilling.

A few more favourites

Among them are Singapore, San Francisco and Dubai. There's something in the air of San Francisco that makes me feel extremely energetic and positive. I particularly enjoy the Scenic Drive, which gives you a glimpse of the best-looking places of San Francisco. I have also enjoyed feasting on the South Indian dishes that you get in the restaurants there. Can you believe it, I have tasted really yummy rasam and sambar in San Francisco?

Sit back and enjoy

Whenever I visit these countries, I find it relaxing to move around in chauffeur-driven cars. It gets me into the mood to compose.
