Presidents' choice

The Fox world cuisine restaurant in Gurgaon has organised a White House Food Feast for two weeks during April. The event features the favourites of all the American Presidents, from George Washington to George W. Bush, prepared by Executive Chef Sanjeev Takyar. The American platter includes Jimmy Carter's favourite mushroom broccoli crepes, John F. Kennedy's chicken velvet soup, President Ford's spaghetti and meatballs in barbeque sauce, George Bush's Brunswick stew, Richard Nixon's favourite steak in herb sauce. Friends and relatives are on the menu too, with dishes like Laura Bush's favourite lentil, potato and red pumpkin soup, and desserts like Winston Churchill's fig and walnut tart and Chelsea Clinton's crθme brulee chocolate cake.

"This cuisine was served during one of my cruise travels and that's how I got the idea," says the chef. The dishes have been prepared in the authentic American style, without `customising' them for Indian taste buds. Hamburgers and Ronald Reagan's chicken Maryland are the most sought after dishes, say officials. The festival may be extended depending on public demand.
