Beat the heat with some refreshing coolants



THANDA THANDA Whip up some coolers this summer

Summers needn't be irritable, if one finds ways to make the best use of it. The seasonal fruits make for the best of the drinks if you are in the mood to innovate. Try and chill.

Raw mango delight

Ingredients:
Raw mango puree: 1 cup
Sugar: 2 cups
Roasted jeera powder: 4 tsp
Pepper: 1 tsp
Black salt: 1/2 tsp
Saffron: a pinch
Cardamom powder: 1tsp
Salt to taste
Crushed ice

Method:

To get the mango puree, boil the mango with the skin. Allow it to cool. Remove the skin take out the pulp and pass it through a sieve to get a thick puree. Mix the sugar and raw mango puree. Add about 10 cups water. Mix well. Add the roasted jeera powder, pepper, black salt and salt to taste. Churn it in a mixie. Melt the saffron strands in little water. Add it to the above mixture along with the cardamom powder. Mix well. Add the crushed ice and serve chilled.

Grape and strawberry ale

Ingredients:
Black grapes: 2 cups
Green grapes: 2 cups
Medium size apples: 2
Big red strawberries: 5-6
Sugar to taste
A pinch of salt
A pinch of pepper
Crushed ice

Method:

Clean the grapes. Peel and cut the apples. Remove the leaves of strawberry. Clean it and cut it into small pieces. Add sugar and keep it aside for some time. Add a bit of water to the above fruits and churn it in a mixer to get a thick pulp. Strain the pulp. Add salt, pepper and crushed ice. Mix well. Serve chilled.

Vegetable and fruit juice

Ingredients:
Grated carrot: 1 cup
Apple, peeled and chopped: 1 cup
Tomatoes, chopped: 2-3
Pomogranate: 1 cup
Beetroot, grated: 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Sugar to taste
Crushed ice
Coriander leaves, chopped: 2 tbsp

Method:

Mix the grated carrot, beetroot, chopped apple, chopped tomatoes and pomegranate.

Churn in a mixie by adding enough water. Strain to get a pulp of smooth consistency.

Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Add crushed ice. Serve chilled garnished with coriander leaves.

Refreshing lemon ginger fizz

Ingredients:

Lime juice: 10 tsps
Ginger juice: 3 tspa
Sugar: 8 tbsp
Drinking soda (as required)
A pinch of salt
Crushed ice

Method:

Mix the lime and ginger juice. Add sugar and enough water to dissolve the sugar. Mix well. Add the salt. Mix again.

Pour this mixture into tall glasses. Add crushed ice.

Pour drinking soda over this mixture and serve chilled
