Ready for a bone-chilling experience? Try Scary House

THE FEAR FACTOR At Scary House

The door opens with an eerie rasp. As one enters the scary house, a loud scream scares you out of your wits. It is pitch dark and suddenly a man in black comes near you. He has no legs. Then he disappears. All this happens in less than a minute. The Scary House, inaugurated recently by actor Bharath, is the new attraction in the Abirami Mega Mall.

About his `Scary House' experience, Bharath said, "When Abirami Ramanathan told me to take someone along into the House, I didn't feel the need. I wanted to experience it alone. But he insisted and I took my manager Pazhani Kumar and an assistant. After going into the first room itself we were quite scared. Somehow I went through all the five and was relieved to come out. The creator of this house (T. Srinivas) has done a wonderful job by making people believe in what is not there."

Once the actor came out, he felt he should go in a second time for a complete experience. "This time I happily walked past the devil's home, spookey whispers, groans, disembodied pair of hands, a witch holding a dwarf in her hand, mysterious things moving behind a window and chairs around the dining table moving by themselves. Suddenly a loud voice warned, `hold on if you disturb any sleeping devil, it will chase you out'. When you think it's all over, a trap door pops open beneath your feet and scares the life out of you. At the end of it all I came out laughing." Bharath feels that the house will be good entertainment, particularly for the young.

The concept is called "Animatronics" (combination of fine arts, mechanical, electronics and computers). Weak hearts, heart patients, children without guardians and pregnant women are not allowed.

The entry fee is Rs. 30 on weekdays and Rs. 40 on holidays. There were many youngsters waiting in a queue on the inaugural day.

When asked what is the next attraction at the mall, Abirami Ramanathan's son R. Sivalingam said that visitors to the mall would soon be able to shake hands and talk to personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai!
