Touching the Malayali heart

Celebrating the changes that have touched the hearts of the Malayali, a host of awards were given away in different categories, Saturday last, accompanied with song and dance

BOWLED OVER Indian speedster S. Sreesanth does an impromptu jig at the awards function

`Lifestyle' has become the repetitive buffer utterance when it comes to signifying the urbane changes that have been interwoven into our living approaches. Life has indeed evolved stylistically whereby it has got more quality conscious then ever before. And the average Malayali has indeed bred copious aspirations that he/ she registered while interacting in a broader societal spectrum. Acknowledging the importance that lifestyle has assumed in our daily lives, Impresario Event Management Company came up with their first ever Mather Lifestyle Awards "to honour a few personalities and products that have touched the Malayali's heart" according to Harish Babu, MD, Impresario. Based on the degree of professionalism, creativity and innovation that these individuals and brands have been able to sustain consistently in their performance, each was awarded after getting feedback from around 1,000 people and their views from all across Kerala.

Amidst a well-executed show that had Bollywood singer Rithika Sahani crooning her hit numbers from Waqt and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, awards were presented to the respective persons.

Emcee Ada began on a sprightly note with her figure-hugging outfit, introducing the awardees. The first to walk away with the coveted trophy was Lifestyle Magazine Award, which went to `Vanitha', which has depicted the changing Mallu psyche. In the category for Concept cars, Swift was awarded the prize and in Concept Innovation Joy Alukkas.

Beena Kannan was proclaimed Business Woman of the Year and C. J. George as the Business Man of the Year. The Entertainment Award was given to Mammooty. A. K. Prasanth was given the architect award. The Retailer Award went to Varkey's. In hotels it was Le Meridien that came up trumps along with Kumarakom resort in Leisure Hotels.

Loungevity was awarded the New Trendsetter for opening the first lounge bar in the state. Samsung got for Home Entertainment and Kingfisher Airlines for the newly introduced concept of low cost airlines, giving superior services. The Lifestyle Store Award went to Priceless, which gives consumers good buys at competitive prices.

Intermittently, the invitees were entertained by Vibes, a dance troupe from Bollywood who put in a good performance with their dance sequences. When the crowd was egged on to join in, they hesitated. Even an impromptu jig by Indian fast bowler S. Sreesanth, who was announced the brand ambassador of Mather, didn't quite get the guests on their feet. Maybe dancing doesn't quite fit in with lifestyle changes!
