Woks, the Oriental restaurant at InterContinental The Grand in New Delhi, celebrates an ancient Chinese custom with its Yum Cha promotion. Tracing its origin to the Cantonese region, Yum Cha is enjoyed across China on Sunday mornings where the entire family gathers to catch up with each other while partaking of dim sums along with other savouries besides sipping pot after pot of Chinese tea.
Woks has created a similar experience for its guests with a three-in-one delight with unlimited servings of dim sums and noodles along with endless pouring of Chinese tea for Rs.800 plus taxes per person.
The promotion, on till this Sunday, will impress you with the sheer range of specials on offer.
The Yum Cha menu offers delicious bite-sized dim sums and fresh noodles accompanied by Chinese tea, known as a good digestive. Light food being the order of the day, dim sums on the menu include shrimp egg roll, shrimp sesame seed, bean curd skin roll, fresh mushroom dumpling with coriander to name a few. For noodles, the choice is among double-faced brown noodles with chicken, Singapore fried rice stick and Szechwan noodles.
Besides the traditional variety of Chinese tea, there is also decaf green tea for the calorie-conscious and diabetic tea for diabetics.
You will also find herbal ginseng tea, chrysanthemum tea, Chinese green superior, Yunnah black and jasmine tea. The good thing about Yum Cha is that both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests can relish it. Also, Woks has an open kitchen where the guests can watch their food being made.
Senior Sous Chef Sudarshan Sharma says not just Indian diners, but a lot of Chinese and Japanese diners have been coming over to enjoy the dishes.
