Kongu history

It was good to read "The Dynasties" (March 4). Kongu history is riddled with puzzles. Historically this land has been free from major political troubles. The migration of Telugu speaking people from Andhra in the 15th and 16th centuries was one major event. Apart from political control these people also put to good use the black soil of the region. There is also influence of Krishna Deva Raya and Thirumalai Nayaka in these parts. Villages like Avarampalayam (Krishnarayapuram) and Thirumalnaickapalayam are named after these kings.

There is a lot more about Kongu history that we need to unearth.
