Haute couture comes out of the highbrow closet, what with prêt, diffusion and rest becoming hot topic for chinwag. If that wasn't enough fashion enters hi streets and tinselville with an equal élan. Supporting the ramps, fashion weeks and the contests is the tube, dishing out, virtually, style across various channels. This May Mumbai will be drenched in haute hues as it hosts the Idea Zee F Award.
Whipping up the fashion fervour and adding to the scorching heat in town was the recent do, the twin cities' leg of the fashion tour at Bottles and Chimney where a bevy of models showcased Neeta Lulla's Fantasy Collection for the fashionstas around. And how?
Sheer saris took to hues of spring — lime green, lilac as also popular magenta, with elegant detailing. The collection seemed apt for shaadi with folks who like their trousseau minimalist. Ditto for the heavily sequinned ghagras that found red evened out with gold detailing. The line also found return of the spaghetti, this time for the stylish soiree blouses.
As for the award, currently into its second year, it finds newer categories for nomination — Idea People's Choice Awards that include Celebrity Model of the Year that has Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Kaloj, Preity Zinta, John Abraham and more as nominee, and Most Fashionable Sports Star that has Sania Mirza, Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupati and others in the category.
This apart the awards will find categories Industry Awards (Male/Female Model of the Year, Fashion Choreographer, Make-up Artist, Hair Stylist and others) as also Hall of Fame Awards for outstanding contribution to fashion, for promoting Indian crafts and techniques and more.
Find Shahab Durazi, Abu Jani, J.J.Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani competing in the couture segment, Upen Patel, Nina Manuel, Jessie Randhawa, Muzzamil Ibrahim, Sapna Kumar and Niketan Madhok for Model of the Year (ramp).
Other interesting categories to watch out will be Costume Designer (films), Fashion retailer, the Rohit Khosla Award for Debutante Designer of the Year and more. Stay tuned as we keep you posted on news from the fashion world.
