As light as it gets!

Packing right is an essential part of gearing up for a vacation

BON VOYAGE Invest in quality luggage

Just how many times have you regretted not packing your tooth brush and tooth paste while on a vacation?

Despite looking forward to a day full of adventure and the anticipation of discovering new places, all of us would have some time or the other wasted time in trying to get to the nearest store to get personal care items.

To avoid hitches, just spend a few minutes in organising your luggage.

* If you are able to remember all that you want to pack and manage to do it really well, you probably don't need much help. But for most of us lesser mortals, it doesn't hurt to prepare a checklist.

* Let's begin with the luggage, which is of utmost importance. A lot of brands have introduced light travel suitcases and leather bags.

Invest in quality luggage; it will keep you company for a long time.

* Mark your luggage with your initials or bright, fluorescent tapes. This makes it easier to identify your luggage anywhere.

* Keep in mind your destination while packing. If you are heading towards a beach, ensure you take a few more clothes than necessary.

Beachwear is bound to get soiled and not all hotels have 24-hour laundry facility.

* Cottons are a must for sultry tourist spots. When you are off to the hills, keep some warm clothing in hand. Never mind if all this seems strange as you sweat it out in Hyderabad.

* Pack in walking/jogging shoes.

* Pack video/digital cameras well, cushioned by soft clothing on either side. Better still is to use special camera bags. Keep extra batteries in store.

* Let sunscreen lotions be part of your vanity kit.
