Stay back at Laidbackwaters

`The anthology of wine and food', that's the essence of the grilled seafood festival at Laidbackwaters, Qutub Hotel. The man behind Laidbackwaters is Dheeraj Arora who brought the concept of lounging in India by launching Shalom in Greater Kailash. He has already launched two branches of Shalom in Goa and is going to open another one in Mumbai shortly.

Laidbackwaters is a brand extension of Shalom and this is the first time that the restaurant has come up with the idea of a grilled seafood festival. The effect here is astoundingly soothing and as you step inside you seem to forget all your worries. Chef Oishi has shaped an exquisite menu to satisfy the appetite of seafood lovers paired mostly with white wine as it complements grilled seafood. A special menu has been created for the seafood festival.

Chef's choice

To start off, one can have the chef's favourite, the grilled prawns jambalaya paired with Chardonnay wine, garlic grilled scallops and chilly rubbed shrimp with avocado and corn cocktail paired with herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc wine which is rather good. In salads one can try the grilled prawn with pickled bamboo shoot. Although there is nothing much in store for vegetarians they can try the beer and cheese soup, which is not quite okay. This place can be a dream destination for non-vegetarian lovers.

Moving on to the main course the grilled piri piri prawns, a Portuguese preparation is a must have. It is teamed up with Port wine to balance the pungency of the dish. One can also try the delectable grilled stuffed pomfret cooked in Parsi style. It is paired with the impeccable food-friendly Riesling wine. In the desserts the gulab jamun cheese cake and Mocha charlotte with ice cream is a nice shot. Though most of the dishes are good the grilled salmon with spicy pesto is passable. And as it is said, "A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry". So what are you waiting for, step into the enchanting Laidbackwaters to enjoy the aromatic ambience and tempting grilled seafood as the festival is concluding on May 10.
