For budding animators

In animation for youngsters

Animation and Visual Effects is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and India is considered a thrust market. Youngsters who dream of a career in animation could consider enrolling at the MAAC (Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics), the academic wing of Maya Entertainment, a premier 3D Animation and Visual Effects house, based in Mumbai, and promoted by producer-director Ketan Mehta and film actress Deepa Sahi. It is offering a structured a course — `Art for Animation', which doesn't promise to make your ward a Walt Disney in four weeks, but will give him or her the right skills and foundation.

Students require learning and understanding of art forms, powers of observation and reproduce it using light and shade. Animation also requires an understanding of the human and animal anatomy. In the animation and VFX industry, an early start goes a long way in one's career.

In this programme, those who have so far been only watching animated content will be introduced to the joy of making a movie with visual effects and animation. They will get exposed to various software tools; they can create their own digital art and compile movies using the software.

About MAAC... The academy is renowned for expert training in animation, visual effects and game design and has over 43 animation academies around the world. It has trained and placed over 10,000 computer graphic artists in the country.

MAAC plans to have two batches this summer. Those interested will have to take a simple aptitude test and those who qualify can enrol for the programme to be conducted at Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, AC6, II Floor, Sixth Avenue, Anna Nagar. For details call 26200200 or 42666066.
