Around Paris on a cruise

French curise company La Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches, is inviting Indian tourists for a cruise via river Seine in its vessels

CALM STROKES A painting of the beautiful and serene sight of the river Seine in Paris

Paris has always been known for three things - perfumes, wines and gorgeous women. But now it seems we shall get to see something more than just this in the French capital. La Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches, an over half-a-century-old French cruise company is inviting Indian tourists to enjoy Paris by taking the river Seine cruise on their vessels.

According to Rade Matovic, president of Bateaux-Mouches, "We want Indians to come to us so that we can show them the most beautiful monuments along the river Seine." You can explore Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, the legendry Louvre, the Orsay Museum, Pont Neuf and the Conciergerie, etc. The firm has 14 ships including 9 cruise boats having a capacity of 1000 passengers and five restaurant boats which can accommodate up to 600 guests. There is also the facility of providing exclusive Indian food for the sub-continental visitors. People can choose from French and Indian cuisines.

Fresh food

"The best thing is that our food is fresh. We have our own chefs who prepare meals on aboard," says Mr Matovic.

Elaborating more on the services, he says deluxe services are also available for honeymoon couples. They can enjoy the special treatment at Bateaux-Mouches liners. "Over two million passengers come every year and since the beginning more than 120 million travellers have come," he states. Talking about prospects in India, he comments, "We hope to have a lot of Indians in Paris and we are thinking of making investments in India."

This French initiative will also help in bringing the two cultures together, says Matovic. To promote Indian culture, he says the touring company will soon screen Hindi movies in Paris that will be watched by a lot of ministers and VIPs too.

"And there will be no language problem since almost all Indians speak English and in our corporation we all understand English," concludes the company chief.

Bateaux-Mouches offers complete travel packages including accommodation, cruises, meals and transportation.
