Grading system...

Lesser burden

Intermediate marks carried a lot of significance till a couple of years ago for gaining entrance into prestigious institutes like BITS, Pilani. But now with most of the graduation institutes going for separate entrance examinations like the BITSAT (BITS Admission Test), intermediate marks have no more importance than just being a criterion of eligibility to take these exams. With students already burdened with numerous entrance tests, attaching undue significance to the intermediate marks would be an unnecessary, additional burden.
