Director's cut

Tamil director Dharani is all set to make a mark here

ACTION! Dharani directing Pawan Kalyan

Dharani is one director who has an impressive track record in Tamil films - Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli were all blockbusters.

For the last two years he has been busy with Bangaram, his first Telugu film for producer A.M. Ratnam . In a nutshell the story is how a television reporter called Bangaram played by Pawan Kalyan who specialises in rural reporting wanting to be a correspondent of BBC achieves it! Pawan had gone on a crash diet of fruits and vegetables to look thin and young for the film and you can find the glow on his face.

The film, according to Dharani, has been packaged superbly in a commercial format without a single duet song! Bangaram has Meera Chopra and Reema Sen for the glamour quotient with Trisha in a special appearance and Ashutosh Rana as the villain. The title song- Ra..Ra..Bangaram... tuned by Vidyasagar has been rocking the charts. At the end of Bangaram shoot, Pawan had apparently hugged Dharani and told him: "I don't think that I will ever meet a director like you who understands the nuances of commercial cinema so well."
