Designer Surily Goel makes her debut in the city with her Fashion Week line "Rose"
|
Designer Surily Goel, who wowed audiences at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week, makes her Chennai debut at Evoluzione, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam.
The theme of the collection being "Rose," it's romance personified. In each piece, the designer, an alumnus of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles, weaves in a magical story about a young, carefree girl who falls in love and gradually evolves into a woman.
The designer has worked on print and embroidery to explore variations in the theme. "Roses," believes Surily, "express shades of feelings and passions."
The palette is vivid and vast. The silhouettes have variety. The fabrics are georgettes, offset with sensuous combinations of lace, crochet and satin. Prints are also prominent. Pearls add a touch of drama to the collection. To keep the design sense strong, she ensures there is only one point of emphasis in each of her designs.
Surily, who began her eponymous line in December 2003, retails in top fashion houses across the country. She styled Preity Zinta's look in Yashraj Films' "Salaam Namaste."
