ON A MISSION The concerts are to garner funds for Samarthanam

Samarthanam, an NGO dedicated to providing opportunities for the visually, physically and economically challenged, is organising "Mission for Vision", a three-day musical fund-raiser from May 19 to 21 featuring a host of stars from Bollywood and the various south Indian film industries.

The event kicks off on May 19, with performances by playback singers from the Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu film industries. Some of the performers include Mano, Madhu Balakrishna, Uluganathan, Malathi, Chitra Aiyer, Parave Muniyamma and Priyadarshini Ram. Samarthanam's brand ambassador Maanya Naidu is also presenting a special dance performance. May 20 features acts by Gurukiran, Daisy Boppanna, Vijay Raghavendra, Ramya, Malgudi Shubha, B. Jayashree and others. For the finale on May 21, Sunidhi Chauhan, Pankaj Awasthi and the Zee- Ek Main Ek Tu Jodi, will entertain the crowd.

The concerts kick off each evening at 6.30 p.m. at Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds. Tickets for the shows on May 19 and 20 are priced at Rs. 750, Rs. 500, Rs. 250 and Rs. 100, while those for May 21 are Rs. 1000, Rs. 750, Rs. 500 and Rs. 200. Tickets are available at Café Coffee Day, Music World, Show Off, K.C. Das, Nandini Palace, G.K. Vale and Food World. The proceeds collected from the event will go towards the construction of a hostel for about 500 students and a hi-tech school for children with disabilities.
