Of photographs featuring children by Virginie Pierrefixe at Alliance Francaise
|
"I don't work on the images. They work on me," says Virginie Pierrefixe describing her passion for photography.
Virginie specialises in taking photographs of children.
Her exhibition of photographs titled "Indian Childhood Lights of the Soul" will be on show at the Gallery, Alliance Francaise, 24, College Road, Nungambakkam, from May 15 to 27.
Virginie says: "... each photograph is an internal adventure, a true reunion with the childhood spirit. My photographs are icons, they make me experience who I am. They spring from random meetings... And I have the responsibility of recording them."
Virginie was born in France in 1974. After a course in photography, she dedicated her first works to children in France and elsewhere. In December 2002, her explorations brought her to India where she worked on a series of photographs of children.
The works had a personal style and were in the form of a travel journal. She supports the Speed Trust Foundation in its aid programmes for people living in the slums of Chennai.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on May 15 at 6.30 p.m.
