COOL CUTS Something in the hair PHOTO: V. GANESAN

Schwarzkopf Professional, the hair care products brand, has launched its Essential Looks for Spring-Summer 2006, a forecasting on hair trends for the season. Using Igora Royal hair colours, Schwarzkopf has put together six trends for men and women that it sees being most popular this season.

For women, Schwarzkopf puts forth three main styles. The Purity look includes a solid, side swept fringe, rounded layers through the back and extreme broken lengths through the sides and front. This shape also has lilac and black currant tones that swirl through the cut, running darker to the ends of the hair.

The Glam look is over-styled and accessorised. The Glam cut includes a long seductive fringe and jaw length shape, built in volume with weight in the outline and slim tendrils of hair through the front. The cut is embellished with a solid deep gold tone, laced with slices of champagne.

The Simplicity look is the latest take on the silhouettes of the '60s.

The Cut essentially has head hugging hair, rounded with a deep heavy fringe that falls in a convex shape to skim the eyelashes, and shorter internal layers that draw the outline in to the nape and jaw. The colour for this look is a blend of resonant copper with burgundy tones layered for depth and a glossy finish.

For men, the look is about long, louche and teardrop-shaped fringes plunged to full lips, with heavy top layers and broken outlines to complete the androgynous look. The preferred hair colour here is dark, muddy brown with a flat, matt finish.
