SPRINGING A SURPRISE The legendary Paul Simon
Surprise
Paul Simon/Warner
Paul Simon and his band took centre stage at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with a headlining show at the Acura stage recently. More tours from the legend are on the cards as he released his new album a few weeks back, his fresh studio work since 2000.
Simon collaborates with Brian Eno for the album that contains some of his best work since Graceland.
Recorded at Eno's studio in London as well as studios in New York and Nashville, the album features 11 songs, including the Oscar-nominated Father And Daughter.
"Working with Brian Eno opens the door to a world of sonic possibilities; plus he's just a great guy to hang out with in the studio, or for that matter in life," says the artiste.
The album features contributions from musicians Steve Gadd, Herbie Hancock, and Bill Frisell.
Stadium Arcadium
Red Hot Chili
Peppers/Warner
The Red Hot Chili Peppers return with their ninth album on May 9, 2006.The twin CD compilation features 28 songs.
On the double album's title, singer Anthony Kiedis says, "I hope it means something different to everyone, but to me, in the chorus of the song I get the feeling of being off in the wilderness with a large group of people creating a huge light, playing music for those people and reflecting the love that's going on between us and them." "Every album we do, we try to have a concept and a sense of direction.
The most important idea for this album was movement," says the group as the album traverses from the history of rock `n' roll to the dark side of LA and more.
