Vizagapatam Medical College

The Andhra Medical College is the oldest medical college in the State and seventh in the country. It was established in 1923. It was initially known as Vizagapatam Medical College and Lt.Col. F.J.

Anderson was its first principal. The name was later changed by the then Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University C.R. Reddy.

Ravindra Bharathi

A couple of decades ago a few like-minded citizens of this city like T.S.N. Raju, Garimella Srirama Murthy, Sagi Seetharama Raju and the then District Collector Abid Hussain planned to set up a Ravindra Bharathi.

The area identified was where the present RTC Complex stands today. A few fund raising programmes were also organised and the foundation stone was also laid but the project never took off .
