Get drenched in fun
Want to beat the heat but don't know how? Why not visit a water park?
As the mercury continues to soar and frequent power cuts haunt the city, people, especially children, now on summer holiday, need a break from the hot weather. And water, as always, is the best source of cooling.
A fun-filled option of a water park is the Fun `N' Food Village at Kapashera near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The park has just introduced new rides and has redone its infrastructure to attract more revellers from around the city and its adjacent areas. Making the park more secure and to add to the beauty of the premises, the administration has covered the surface area with anti-skid synthetic grass.
Says Balwant Chawla, Managing Director, Polo Amusement Park, the parent company of Fun `N' Food Village, "For the last 15 years, every year we do something new. This time we have brought in synthetic grass carpet to raise the safety level, mainly keeping kids in mind."
3D fun
The park has launched rides like Baby Rides, Sun n Moon, Fun Balls, Merry go Round, Caterpillar, Mayur Train, Cat Train and Air King.
A 3D Cinema, showing different categories of 3D movies, has also opened at the park where guests could have a gala time without paying any extra charges. Chawla explains, "We have not hiked the fee. It is Rs.325 for adults and Rs.250 for kids. There is also special discount for school children coming in a group. They just have to pay Rs.150 to enjoy all the amusement rides and water slides for the whole day."
Talking about the water slides, Chawla says, "It is about how much thrill you can provide. We have 22 water slides in total and our Aqua Shute is the fastest slide in the whole of Asia." Besides water slides, he says, "We have the largest number of rides than other amusement parks in the entire northern India."
The Polo Amusement Park is also planning to build parks in Central Asia and the Middle East.
According to Chawla, the construction of amusement parks in Uzbekistan and United Arab Emirates would start in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
"It is one of the largest programmes in the Middle East estimated around Rs.2000 crores," he adds.
