Fete de la Musique, Alliance Francaise de Bangalore's celebration of World Music Day, has been scheduled for June 17 this year. The festival, which began in Paris in 1982 to promote the practice of music of all kinds in a spirit of creation and exchange, has been celebrated at Alliance Francaise for many years now.

Last year, the free concert featured 69 musicians and 48 dancers performing to an audience of more than 1,500 people. This year, Alliance Francaise has invited entries from aspiring participants for the event, which is open to all kinds of musicians and dancers, whether professional or amateur.

In order to participate, interested bands or groups must send in a small write-up along with a few pictures for the press files on or before May 26. The information can either be emailed to culture.afbangalore@afindia.org or given to the reception at Alliance Francaise. A final list of participants and a schedule will be given out by June 5.
