As you open the door to this favourite eating joint in Pondicherry, you get a whiff of freshly baked bread and hot coffee. The Hot Breads' outlet on Ambour Salai now sports a new look and has more on the menu. The flooring done in cream tiles and brown wood reminds one of bread and chocolate. The soft lights and the new ceiling with rafters add to the ambience of the place where several people — from businessmen to tourists — meet and chat over French chocolate Danish, breads, baguettes, pastries, Croissants or black coffees. Comfortable chairs and round tables add to trendy look while the glass door cuts out the noise from the busy road.

"We felt the need for a make-over as change makes you feel good. So we made these small yet significant changes. Bread stands on the sides remain but we have improved the pastry corner," says Khamar Baig, manager, Hot Breads.

Started in 1997 in Pondicherry, Hot Breads has over the years added new items to its menu and has been making changes according to the demands of the customers. Check out the new dates and walnut cookies, almond and honey cookies, chicken dizzy dog, veg soft roll, Grainex bread, jalapeno baguette, diet baguette and double decker Danish.

The Grainex bread is made of various grains including rye, oats, corn and wheat germ. The double decker Danish has chocolate stuffed inside and also laid on the top. The spicy jalapeno baguette is made with Mexican chilli.

So, take a break and walk into Hot Breads, anytime. They also plan to add a combo meal consisting of a fresh juice, Croissant and Danish salad with freshly brewed Italian coffee to their breakfast menu.
