Collector's item
The Hollywood blockbuster Walt Disney's "Chronicles of Narnia" has come out with a special DVD version which has now been released through retail outlets in Chennai. The Narnia DVD is a collector's item with loads of added features like trivia, bloopers on sets, the making of the film and a few scenes, which were edited out from its theatrical version. The DVD has an option for both English and Hindi soundtrack and a Tamil edition is also being launched shortly.
According to Rajat Jain of Walt Disney India: "Narnia was a super hit all over India, especially in Chennai, when it was released in theatres.
But as part of Disney's home entertainment business in India through a local partner Excel Home Videos, we want to popularise Narnia and get more consumers to watch Disney, the hallmark of quality entertainment."
Toon time
After the stupendous success of "Hanuman" last year, the new buzzword in Indian cinema is animation. Pentamedia Studios and Mayajaal Entertainments, the pioneers in the business, have now come out with their 74- minute English film "Gulliver's Travel", which released yesterday. The film is directed by Anita Udeep. Despite the hullabaloo about "Hanuman", which raked in a profit of Rs. 15 crore for its makers, the U.S. market felt the quality of animation films made in India is not up to the mark. So Pentamedia has made "Gulliver's Travel", a 3D animated film, with great care and is releasing it during the summer holidays as it is targeted at children and a family audience.
