An obsession for teamwork deeply rooted in his genes saw him grow step-by-step till he climbed the prestigious positions in the same organisation. Friends and relatives often goaded him to search for greener pastures, but Paladugu Ravindra Babu continued in the company and was rewarded for accepting challenging assignments, which he fulfilled with ιlan and success.
Regional head of ING Vysya's retail branch, Ravindra Babu's passion for hard work brought three-fold benefits in his personal and professional life. He worked for long hours and there were days when his wife Lakshmi felt lonely and even uncomfortable with Babu's preoccupation with work. But the fruits reaped out of it enouraged her to work and transform herself from a homemaker to an efficient manager. Seated in the cool environs of `Aromas' at Hotel D.V. Manor, the couple walked down the memory lane to share their happier days. Paladugu brims with joy, as Lakshmi talks about his dedication and devotion to family and the little successes of their children Srujana and Srikanth. The girl found a placement in Infosys, while the boy is doing his engineering in Hyderabad.
Being the regional head bears lightly on Babu's cheerful and simple persona, while Lakshmi complements his slow but steady march up the ladder of success.
A person having a strong belief in team building, Paladugu completed his intermediate from Andhra Loyola College and did B.Sc agriculture at AP Agriculture University, Bapatla. . Throughout his studies, he enjoyed national merit scholarships.
Seeds of leadership
The couple enjoyed their stay at Bangalore the most - the cool climate and the bliss of an enduring peace and public order. They cherish the six years spent in India's Silicon Valley, as their children also had their crucial schooling there. The stay was also electrifying in another sense - those were the days when Lakshmi began thinking of following Paladugu's footsteps and made her first step into the busy world of work. She joined as a consultant for an international brand dealing in direct marketing and went on to become a manager in a short span of three years. "Now I guide and provide work to 150 people. I never imagined that I could be like this someday in my life. The credit for this goes to my husband," she says with a smile. Paladugu learnt the art of taking up life's challenges from his father, who was a sarpanch of Sangam Jagarlamudi in Guntur district for over four decades. Having a great taste for fish and chicken delicacies, Paladugu gave up non-vegetarian food when he took `Ayyappa deeksha' a few years ago. A feeling of lightness and spiritual well-being settled in their minds so profoundly that the couple now continues to savour vegetarian delicacies.
When opportunities came, Lakshmi and Paladugu together visited Singapore and Dubai. The facilities at Dubai and the trade centre left an imprint in their minds. It is now the turn of the children who are badgering them for a trip to a foreign country.
