DELICIOUS Chef Francis Luzinier and one of his mango dishes
The mercury is surely rising. Cheer up because it's mango time folks, and this summer InterContinental The Grand brings to you a Mango Festival with a difference.
Executive Chef Francis Luzinier is the one responsible for the mango mania and mango delights at its restaurants the Rendezvous and The Pastry Shop. The mangoes have been purchased from our very own Amchi Mumbai.
Talking about the Mango Fiesta going on at the hotel, the chef says, "We are targeting the ladies who shop at Connaught place. Since it's too hot out there, we have combined varieties of mangoes with high tea."
At Rendezvous, one can have the chef's favourite mango chocolates, smoked chicken and mango sandwich along with mango cheesecake on a three-tier stand. This three-tier formula is what makes this Mango Festival different from the other mango fairs in the city. Team this platter with a high tea for a truly astounding dining experience. The combo is priced at Rs.400 plus taxes for the high tea.
While at The Pastry Shop, an individual can have a go at the mango mousse and the mango tart. Pair them up with the mango lassi for a mouth-watering experience. Another good option is the upside-down cake that is quite delectable. The range here is priced between Rs.75 and 600. The cordon bleu chef specialises in European cuisine. On a personal note, he likes to eat Chinese and Thai cuisine. Moreover he likes the `Indian curry' though in a less spicy version. This French man is a cartoon buff and takes time off from his culinary activities for his favourite cartoon Garfield. Paving the way for the new trend of European cuisine at the hotel, the chef comments, "Indians with their frequent travelling are open to discovering new tastes and trying innovative dishes. They completely understand the difference between an authentic dish eaten in the country of origin and the one made here in India and are ready to try cuisine which is new to their taste buds." For now, savour his authentic mango preparations at this Mango Festival, which will be on till June end.
