Let's play

They are coming. They are coming. Through commercials, Nokia India kept us guessing about who it was that was coming and why. But this past Friday, the secret peeped out. The mobile handset company announced its plans to host a national-level Futsal challenge, a kind of free-style football across four Indian cities. The competition will provide the youth of the country a chance to showcase their football skills against the Futsal players from Brazil.

Termed as "Defend Your Turf" challenge, this tournament will take place this June across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata and will have the National Champions on June 17 in Kolkata. The winners will then defend their turf against the eight boys from Brazil. The matches will be played keeping the street culture in mind and will be played in youth haunts like malls, beaches and car parks.

Devinder Kishore, Director Marketing, Nokia India, said we are aiming to connect with the youth. Nokia 3250 with an inbuilt football game was unveiled at the event. Also present was footballer Bhaichung Bhutia who has been selected by Nokia to lead the youth as the "Defend your Turf" champion. He said, "These kind of campaigns will surely raise the spirit of the game in the country and being a footballer, I am happy to see such positive signs."
