Step out in style

High heeled, flat, strapped and brightly coloured, time to show off your footwear

BEST FOOT FORWARD A fashion statement

It is time to kick off those pumps, and flaunt your pedicured feet. So it's all about those feet, scrubbed clean with orange peel and massaged lovingly with peppermint aroma therapy oils. Feet that are perfectly ready for summer! And there is no better way, or clime, to show off those pampered feet. Strappy sandals, easy thongs, even the good old flip-flops are not just socially acceptable, but definitely stylish, particularly for your Saturday night outs.

Trendy feet

The metallic, the gold, the silver will still do, but its colour this season. Brighter and happier than ever. If you don't have them in crisp lavender, strawberry, orange or a screaming lime already then slip on your duh pair and go buy them. Even the good old Kolhapuris, always in vogue, teamed with jeans or ethnic wear, both for men and women, are coming in with bright coloured adornments. Of course nothing is as indulgent of colour as those bright plastic slippers, trendy and laughably cheap. And these days you no longer have to sacrifice those few inches, even flip-flops come on platforms. And for all you men out there, save us from those stinky feet. Get to the salon now, preferably unisex. Then slip into your floaters, or branded backstraps and proudly show them off to the women. Trust me you'll make an impression, unless of course you've painted your toes red.

Internationally, the hottest things of last summers, and supposedly still hotter this year are the Croc shoes. The strange, big blobs of bright coloured developed resin, originally intended as slip resistant boating shoes are the rage. On the street they are like polite flappers, but they are incredibly fascinating, and even when paired with bright Indian skirt look quite cool. In the era of online shopping nothing is out of reach for a true shoe-addict. And if you are going to be showing off those legs, make sure they're in espadrilles, the Spanish wedges that have a straw plaited look, sometimes real, some that even come with pretty lace up straps. Or you could go completely the other way, and get the desi straw slippers. In a few months when the rains are here they'll anyway be un-wearable. If it's wedged, flat, beaded or in patent leather and comfy above everything, slip-ons are recommended with equal enthusiasm. Add a few fun accessories to your slippers, little butterfly clips, bright mother of pearl buttons, or polka dotted bows.
