BEAT STREET

Make way for jazz notes and riffs this week

PIPES OF PEACE Paul McCartney created history at Red Square

Ringleader Of The Tormentors

Morrissey/EMI

The singer songwriter from Manchester returns with a new cover post You Are the Quarry- his chart topping cover post break up with his The Smiths partner Johnny Marr. Known for his vivid themes--domestic violence, animal rights, disability and more, the artist once again stormed the UK album charts last month debuting on No. 1 with his new cover. Find here the best of Morrissey recordings.

In Red Square

Paul McCartney/Warner

In May 2003, Sir James Paul McCartney created history as he performed to a 1,00,000 strong crowd at the Red Square, Moscow, that had President Putin in the audience as well, who proclaimed The Beatles' music, "it was like a gulp of freedom... an open window to the world." The cover holds performance at the historic concert that found the ex Beatles singing classic hits spanning across his The Beatles, Wings and solo career.

Morph The Cat

Donald Fagan/Warner

The Grammy winning artist presents his first solo album in 13 years. This is the final instalment of his musical trilogy that began with The Nightfly in 1982. "The Nightfly is sort of looking from the standpoint of youth. Kamakiriad would be more about midlife. This new one is about endings, really." Richly-textured jazz, soul and rock grooves come alive in themes that range from impending mortality and apocalyptic scenarios to homeland security and the ghost of Ray Charles.
