Football time!

It's soccer time folks. The World Cup is slated to begin this June, with every corporate organisation trying to make itself a part of all the action. And this time around Adidas, the Official Partner, Supplier and Licensee of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in alliance with Coca Cola trying to be part of the football wave launched the Adidas+Challenge at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this past week in collaboration with ESPN STAR Sports, Phoney Tunes and TV Channel Hungama. Around 124 teams from different corners of the Capital participated in the event that concluded this past week.

For challenge

Present on the occasion was Hartwin Fedderson, Marketing Director, Adidas India. Talking about the tournament he said, "We are the world's number one football brand. We constantly challenge ourselves to the exciting youth through innovative products and extraordinary experiences.We hope that Adidas+Challenge will allow Indian football enthusiasts to enjoy the spirit of team work and will challenge them to deliver their personal best at the same time through the innovative football initiative." This football challenge is one of the largest global football tournaments at the Under-16 level with the captain of the French soccer team, Zinedine Zidane as its global ambassador. The tournament kicked off in the month of January at Rio de Janeiro followed by local initiatives in over 40 nations all over the planet. In Asia alone it will took pace in 12 countries. In India tournament seeks to invite the football aficionados to rejoice the wonderful game in the run-up to the 2006 World Cup.

The tournament will take place in seven major cities across the country. It has concluded in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai and Chandigarh with only Delhi and Kolkata being left.

The Delhi winners will get a chance to participate in the national finals that will take place at Kolkata while the national winners would represent the country at the global finals in Berlin from July 1.
