Want to be a playwright?
It's an effort to identify budding playwrights by Three@Twenty and the inaugural session will be held on May 29, 8 p.m. at Cedars restaurant, Kotturpuram. Three@Twenty is an initiative of Masquerade, the performance group, in association with Cedars.
The project aims to facilitate amateur playwrights to share their work with theatre-lovers. On the second-last Monday of each month the group will organise performative readings of three short plays, of 20 minutes each, at Cedars at 8 p.m. The reading will be interspersed with short music gigs by budding artistes. These music artistes can either be instrumentalists or vocalists accompanied by an instrument. The reading will be followed by a discussion-cum-feedback session between directors, writers and the audience. Later, the musician will be given 30 minutes to perform solo.
The first edition features young playwrights Varun Rajiv and Vidhur S Chari, who will present murder mystery scripts. Varun has written "Wraith" and "Godman" while Vidhur, "The Way the Gun Points". "Wraith" and "The Way the Gun Points" will be coordinated by Karan of Masquerade and "Godman" by Freddy Koikaran of Stagefright Productions. Entry is open to all.
Playwrights and musicians who want to be featured in these sessions can email masquerade@vsnl.net or call 24959246.
The best scripts will be staged at the Three@Twenty Festival of Short Plays early next year.
