Strict `No' for men

The article titled "Men in labour" (May 13) was informative. Though a couple of them have shared their experiences with the readers, it is a fact that not all doctors allow men into the operation theatre. In many hospitals, men are strictly not allowed to stay overnight.

Another thing is their presence in the theatre will not be of much help during a `C' section as anaesthesia will be administered.

I feel the article should have elicited the views of more doctors on the joint responsibility of a couple during childbirth.
