The fame game

Delhiites enjoyed an evening full of fun this past Sunday when the Fame Jodi No.1 of Qazi Tauqeer and Rooprekha Banerjee graced the launch of Nokia N-Series phones at the East Delhi Mall (EDM).

The event was put into motion by the Angels Dance troupe, letting itself loose on popular dance numbers like "Saki-Saki", "Nach Baliye" and "Kajrare, Kajrare", setting the platform for a great evening to follow.

Thousands thronged the EDM and danced to the tunes of the Fame Jodi of the serial Fame Gurukul along with the troupe.

The stage was set on fire by Rooprekha who sang "Chudiyaan-Chudiyaan", "Sajna-Ve-Sajna", "Mahi Ve" amongst other songs.

As if Rooprekha's voice was not enough for Delhiites, the crowd went berserk when Qazi took stage with hits like "Bheegey Honth Tere", "Kaho Na Kaho", "Yaron Main Ban Gaya Hero" with his beautiful voice leaving the jam-packed Mall spellbound.

As the show went into the night, it seemed the people wanted more of Qazi and perhaps sensing this the Kashmiri obliged with "Dil Ko Tumse Pyar Hua" and then along with Rooprekha did an encore of "O Saki-Saki" and "Ye Pal Humein Yaad Aayenge". _Overwhelmed by the response, Qazi said before signing off, "Sachmuch Delhi hai dilwalon ki... Last year in May also, I had done a show here and the response was equally great. Delhiites were unstoppable and rocking at that time too and that is great. Hopefully their love and affection will remain the same." When asked about her future plans, Rooprekha said that she would record songs for a Bollywood movie of a well-known director by June or July. She refused to reveal anything about the movie or the director.

Though the show had its share of unexciting interludes but when you've got two of the best talents in the country performing for you, listening about mobile phone features isn't that bad a deal.

The D.G.M of EDM, Rohit Bakshi appreciated the response while Big Show, the event organisers too went back happy. Big Show's Manmeet Singh said, Nokia N-Series has great potential for all the music lovers and keeping their interest in mind we promoted it with a musical show."
