Code unlocked

One of the most controversial films in recent times, "The Da Vinci Code", along with its Tamil dubbed version "Oru Kutrapatrikai", is at last being released in Chennai and the rest of Tamil Nadu. The film has been panned by critics and is said to be slow-paced. But due to the curiosity factor, the film has taken a mammoth opening worldwide with $465 million in 10 days. Says Vikramjit Roy of Sony Pictures India: "The Indian audiences have unlocked the code with a solid opening of Rs. 3.08 crore from 116 screens during May 26-28 weekend, which is the 13th best ever opening for a Hollywood film in the country." Now the big question is whether "The Da Vinci Code" will take a similar opening in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.
